PROJECTION WORK

I’ve always loved finding ways to turn my videos into an experience. That’s why I like working with projection. Check out some of my cool projection pieces below!

COCKPIT PROJECTION

This piece is a structure that I built out of fabric and wood. The work is projected onto the front of the structure, and shows through the back. This way people can sit inside and experience the graphics in an immersive space.

LETS GET STARTED!

I began by creating a model of the cockpit and projecting a video onto it to see if the shape works. Next, I sketched out the dimensions of the build so I knew how much wood to buy, and what lengths I wanted to cut it.

LETS GET BUILDING!

I built the structure overnight in a garage. I used the thinnest, yet sturdiest, wood I could buy. Then, I stapled the canvas on to create frames for projecting.

4 PANEL PROJECTION

This piece was projected onto 4 uneven panels. Something I like about projection is that it allows the designer to give more life to their project. I wanted my work to feel like it was breaking the picture plane. I did this by creating fake bars that serve as breaks for the 2D elements, but the 3D element would move between the false bars to achieve the illusion.
